I will never say no to YES! Taco...

We all know that food trucks have become all the rage. Most recently, we've seen a boom in cupcake stores, fro yo shops, some cake balls here and there... but now the taco trucks have been everywhere! And who wouldn't love them? They are affordable, provide a quick meal and they're mobile.

This is one taco truck you don't want to miss.

YES! Taco.

This taco truck is doing it right. Their menu includes a variety of meats and even vegetarian options (which I believe is a specialty for the sister of one of the owners :)). Some taco trucks are only about their tacos, but this one branches out with tostadas, quesadillas, burritos and even something called a Breakfast Boat- crammed with potatoes, eggs, salsa, cheese and meat. Can someone say YES please? Since I had the day off, this morning I went for the simple bacon, egg and cheese taco. Yum.

During their kick-off party in June, Boty and I had the pleasure of trying the mother taco of their menu.

The Pulled Pork Taco.

I must pause for a minute to honor this one.

Okay, I'm good. :) This North Carolina pulled pork taco has taken my heart. It's tender, but with the cole slaw topping, it has the perfect crunch with an amazing taste.

Eleanor and Michael currently have the YES! Taco truck parked on Magnolia Ave. Be sure to stop by for an amazing meal. And don't forget about that pork taco.

Somebody's Darling @ Central Market

"Like if Janis Joplin hopped on the
microphone during an Old97s and Slobberbone show." - Dallas Observer

How many other reason do you need to see a FREE show?

Somebody's Darling opened by Derek Larson and The Leavers @ Central Market's TNL '11 (assuming that is Thursday Night Live 2011).

Funny story. I saw them a few years ago, lets call it 2009 at La Grange in Deep Ellum, when I was out on the patio looking across at Trees and saw a glow stick dork twirling glow sticks and smacked himself in the face with one.
July 21st (Thurs) 630-930pm

Pizza!

So, the post today is in honor of three very fun things.

1) Pizza is about to have a whole other meaning when we travel to Italy in September.

2) Passing recipes along from other people is a really fun way to recognize them for their greatness in cooking!

3) PIZZA! Who doesn't love pizza? If you don't, then stop reading now.

This is from Katie K... An amazing colleague of mine and she loves to cook. This is the recipe for a pizza dough she regularly makes, complete with her special instructions. *Not Katie's original recipe, but the special instructions are hers. :)

Pizza Dough

2 ¼ tsp. yeast

1 ½ cups of water (beer is good too!) Make sure it’s lukewarm, to help activate the yeast

½ tsp brown sugar

2 Tb Olive Oil

3 1/3 cup flour

1 tsp. salt

I use mostly whole wheat flour, but whatever you like is good. Mix this all and you’ll probably have to add a little more flour to make it not sticky depending on the humidity outside etc. It should be malleable, not dry or stick to your fingers. Let it raise until it doubles in size, it is fine just sitting in a bowl on the counter for an hour or longer.

I usually split this recipe into 4 ziploc bags and freeze them. It makes 4 thin pizzas, but you can make them thicker if you choose.

I bake my pizza on the bottom rack of the oven at about 450 for 10 min. That also depends on how you like and your oven. Don’t forget to spray your pizza pan with non-stick spray or olive oil so it doesn’t stick!

So, take some time to make some pizza dough, then invite others to come over with their toppings and enjoy a night of cooking! What an amazing way to have fellowship with others? Plus, it's great for letting everyone have their own personal pizza at an affordable cost!

Enjoy!

Destined to live up to it...

From a very young age, my father would always tell me... "Young lady, you have wine taste on a beer budget." A roll of the eyes and a few years later, I've realized this might be a tad bit true. Thanks Dad. I was destined to live up to this one. :)

Boty and I have realized that so many of life's pleasures can be enjoyed on that beer budget (and sometimes a wine too), so we are setting out to share them with you. From running adventures to late night excursions, fun recipes to coupon clipping... get ready for fun.

So, our inaugural post has to be our inaugural meeting... The Fort Worth Water Gardens!

The Fort Worth Water Gardens are a hidden gem in Fort Worth. Located across from The Omni downtown, it is near the hustle and bustle of the city, yet you feel like you are a million miles away from the world. It's a serene experience and a family-friendly place to go.

My favorite is shown below. Take the kids, a picnic or a book to read... It's free and it's definitely Fort Worth.

Enjoy!
